Tuesday Jul 21, 2020
Alex Johnston is a cellist, regularly employed with multiple professional symphonic orchestras. It's not as common as you might think for symphonic personnel to not only play musical theatre regularly, but also love it. Alex, however, is one of those people. She talks about why theatre music is so appealing, and also talks about the importance of marking your part clearly if you are going to have a substitute at any point during the run of the show. Finally, we talk about how the cello is not limited to opportunities on just the classic and full orchestra shows. It is practically a staple in modern musicals, and there are many opportunities for a good cellist who loves playing in the pit!
